Samoochischayuschiesya covers for ceramics
Chemical nanotehnologii operate with well-known chemical processes in which well-known organic or inorganic elements and structures participate. But they participate only in “nanoskopicheskih” quantities. If to compare the average sizes nanoelementa to the sizes of a usual football their parity will be same as at a football with globe! As a result, accurately building tiny structures from familiar elements of the table of Mendeleyev, today it is possible to receive materials with surprising properties which at times even contradict common ense. Some modern materials can show powerful gluing ability, being, however, repelentami. Others show the highest hardness, but remain flexible. Covers from such most thin materials are transparent, racks to chemical effect, are stable against corrosion, therefore the scope here is really boundless. One of sectors of practical achievements nanotehnologiy is a reception of strong and proof covers for ceramics. Covers, which samoochischayutsya from a dirt or to which the dirt does not stick.
In 1999 German company Nanogate Technologies GmbH from Saarbryukena has won the tender declared by concern Duravit AG, for working out of self-cleared cover for ceramics - WonderGliss. At exhibition CEVISAMA 2000 in Spain one more product - cover for tile Sekcid, developed by firm as a result of strategic partnership with Spanish concern Torrecid S.A has been shown. - one of world leaders in production sphere fritov and glazes for a ceramic industry. Now there is a work on product Cleartec for per capita cabins of firm Duscholux GmbH.
The essence of approach Nanogate is simple enough. Imagine a plate of which wood of the sharp nails hammered from within sticks out. Or a massage brush. Imagine a scrap of a paper which will represent a dirt stain.
- The water drop sits down on a tile with cover “gidrotekt”.
Water drops incorporate and form a uniform film.
The water film in regular intervals flows down, carrying away all parts of a dirt.
Force of sticking of a dirt is caused by the area of a surface of their mutual contact. If nails was not also a surface would be smooth the contact area would appear significant and the dirt would be kept strongly. However, because of sharp tips of nails the contact area is minimum, and the dirt "soars on a pointe". Too most occurs and to a water drop. It cannot "spread" on edges and consequently is turned off in a ball.
Now, if slightly to incline a plate the water ball will sweep on edges and will meet a dirt stain.
Before a stain "there is a choice problem": or to continue to balance unstably on edges, or to "merge" with a smooth equal surface of a sliding water drop. Naturally, the choice is decided in favour of the second variant. And water drops, obvolochennyie the flakes which have met on a way of a dirt, roll down downwards, reserving a pure dry surface.
- Oil drop on a tile with cover “gidrotekt”.
The oil drop slowly comes off.
The oil drop separates.
Other approach was applied by researchers of Japanese concern TOTO. They made experiments with the photocatalyst on the basis of dioxide of the titan.
Under the influence of ultra-violet beams dioxide of the titan modified by developers on a basis nanotehnologiy, allocates active oxygen from water or atmospheric oxygen. This process is similar to photosynthesis, in which the chlorophyll uses a sunlight to transform water and carbon dioxide into oxygen and glucose. It is quite enough allocated active oxygen to oxidise and dismember organic materials or odorous gas, to kill bacteria.
As a result of researches covers for ceramic materials with essentially new properties - sterilizovaniya, deodorirovaniya premises, destruction of particles of a dirt have been created. Especially actually it for medical institutions or for premises where cook food.
The further experiments with the photocatalyst have allowed to open one more unusual phenomenon. At effect of light the corner of contact of a surface with water starts to decrease gradually. And after a while the surface starts to show properties super-gidrofilnosti.
In other words, the surface does not push away water in general, water cannot exist in the form of a drop, it completely spreads a thin film on all surface, turns to a thin transparent film. Base decisions found Japanese, have been patented in 1998 (all it has been registered more than 350 patents) and have received commercial name Hydrotect.
This technology has been licensed by German concern Deutsche Steinzeug, and in 2000 at factories AgrobBuchtal there has been begun batch production of a ceramic tile for facing of facades KerAion Hydrotect.
Any atmospheric moisture - a fog, morning dew, a rain - constantly forms a thin film of water which, flowing down from vertical or inclined planes of a facade, carries away behind itself a dirt on a surface of tile KerAion Hydrotect, does not allow to it to be accumulated. And the active oxygen allocated under the influence of an ultraviolet, splits organic zagryazniteli.
Potential sources of biodestruction of buildings - a mould, a fungus, a moss and a lichen are thus liquidated also.
The technology of drawing of cover Hydrotect in a layer of the last roasting of a tile allows to receive an abrasive resistant surface.
The tile can be maintained and as floor facing in zones with intensive movement. Today all tiles of line KerAion are manufactured with such cover.
Here it is necessary to note one important point. Self-cleared surfaces are considered today first of all in the general context of struggle for decrease in expenses and working hours on service.
According to ETCSC - the Japanese commission on studying of behaviour of a tile in outside facing - because of inevitable gradual accumulation of a dirt costs for cleaning of the facades revetted with a usual tile, for first eight years annually increase approximately on 12,5 %. The next eight years annual growth of costs reaches 18 % (with allowance for occurrences of expenses for repair). In a case of a tile with self-cleared surface Hydrotect these costs and remain at constant level.
